El Paso is becoming a central hot spot for celebrities lately thanks to our multi-faceted gems, from its border cuisine to an abundance of talent and, of course, the only place on earth to find a pair of sweet custom-made leather boots.

El Paso is known as the boot-making capital of the world, and it's the only place where you can purchase an authentic pair of Texas-made boots at any one of the dozen local bootmakers. Famous brands include Tony Lama, Lucchese Boots, Rocketbuster Handmade Custom Boots, and even Caboots.

Custom-made boots are a big deal, and locals are not the only ones who know what beautiful and talented craftsmanship goes into making them. Celebrities, actors, politicians, and anyone looking for a good pair of boots stops by El Paso to pick up a pair.

El Paso bootmakers are so popular that even one of the world’s richest men, Jeff Bezos wore his favorite lucky boots in space handmade by El Paso's JB Hill Boot Company.

And now we can add actor Chris Pine to the list. Last Thursday, the Star Trek actor was spotted all over El Paso taking selfies with locals, but no one knew why he was in town.

Confirmed by the staff at L&J Cafe, it turns out that Pine was in town to pick up a pair of custom-fitted Lucchese Boots. While here, the piercing blue-eyed actor took the opportunity to have lunch at L&J Cafe and dinner at the State Line while hitting up The Tap later that evening in downtown El Paso.

While most of us may have missed Chris Pine hanging around El Paso, we hope he returns to enjoy our fantastic city again and perhaps pick up another pair of handmade boots.

Chris Pine will reprise his role as Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek 4 which is slated for a theatrical release on December 22, 2023.
