5 Horror Movies That Could Totally Be Turned into Musicals
I have been bitten by the musical bug! It all started when I saw "The Lion King" musical. I recently saw "Kinky Boots" and I cannot wait for the next Broadway musical that comes through my town! Another person who may have been hit by the musical bug? Rob Zombie! Okay, well, not technically. But Broadway and musicals is obviously on his mind, and possibly in his future?
While taking questions from social media on Larry King's show, Zombie was asked what he'd like to do that he hasn't already done in his career- his answer:
"As crazy as it sounds, I feel that my first film House of 1000 Corpses, which is kinda campy in a weird way, which is why at the time I wasn't that thrilled with it, I think would make a great Broadway musical. Because it's very much, when you go to Broadway now it's like Spider-Man, it's The Addams Family, it's Spamalot, you know? So that movie would translate well, I think because it's just ridiculous."
We mentioned it on the show and Buzz thinks that "Devil's Rejects" would make a better musical, which is not a bad idea. With the recent announcement of the Beetlejuice musical, it seems like EVERYTHING is becoming a Broadway musical these days. Here's five horror movies that I think would make great Broadway musicals!
- 1
Scream
"Scream" is one of my absolute favorite horror movies! Can you image that opening scene as a musical number?! It would be insane!
- 2
Halloween
The original version or Rob Zombie's version would work- with that instantly recognizable theme song! Maybe we'd finally get to hear Michael Myers talk and/or sing!
- 3
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Freddy singing in his boiler room is all I ask for! Buzz thinks that the song that goes "1, 2 Freddy's coming for you" would sound great as a tap number and I have to say that's not a bad idea! I do have one request, bring back the boy crop top!

Friday the 13th
A musical set at a camp where horny teens die? SIGN. ME. UP! I don't know why but I picture Jason Vorhees doing a whole "Singin' in the Rain" number.

Final Destination
They could totally do a whole thing with "Rocky Mountain High" before Death takes another victim! That whole plane scene would be crazy!
