A 3-year-old New Mexico boy shot his father and pregnant mother, inside a hotel room in Albuquerque this week. The young boy removed a gun from his mother's purse, and fired one shot. The bullet hit the father, then exited out his hip and struck the pregnant mother in the right shoulder.

According to Officer Simon Drobik of the Albuquerque Police Department, the mother is eight months pregnant. The father was treated and released from the hospital, while the mother is in stable condition. The condition of the unborn child is unknown.

The young boy and his 2-year-old sister were not injured during the accident and are under the care of the Children's Youth and Families department.

The case has been sent to the Albuquerque District Attorney's Office where they will investigate the incident and determine if the parents will be charged with criminal negligence. Albuquerque police's investigation leads them to believe the incident was an accident, but are awaiting to do a safe house interview with the young boy and daughter. The family has not been identified at this time.
