2023 NFL Mock Draft: Broaddus 1st Round Predictions on Draft Day
Draft day is here! The intrigue and uncertainty for this year's first round are at an all-time high. Sure, most draft gurus have already inked Bryce Young as the top overall pick. But at No. 2 with the Texans, all bets are off.
My favorite prospect in this year's draft is running back Bijan Robinson. Before he became a Longhorn, Robinson starred for Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Ariz.) and, coincidently enough, faced Del Valle in a non-district matchup. Against the local Conquistadores team, Robinson rushed for 276 yards with a whopping five touchdowns scored.
Don't sleep on a premier wide receiver being dealt on day one of the draft. The Titans dealt AJ Brown last year to the Eagles in the first round, which was an unexpected splash trade. Could we see movement from Cardinals WR De'Andre Hopkins, Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy or even Bills WR Stefon Diggs? Possibly. If it's not on day one, I expect to see wide receivers traded on days two or three of the draft.
My three favorite position groups in this draft include cornerback, tight end and the edge rusher spot. We could see two high-level corners taken in the top 10, with names like Illinois' Devon Witherspoon and Oregon's Christian Gonzalez.
When it comes to the best tight ends in this class—Dalton Kincaid (Utah) and Michael Mayer (Notre Dame)—it's a toss-up for the right selection in the first round for a tight end-needy team. Behind the two, guys like Luke Musgrave (Oregon State) and Darnell Washington (Georgia) might sneak into the first round if things break right.
Will Anderson Jr. (Alabama) might be the best EDGE prospect in this class, but could teams favor Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech) due to his size and athleticism? We'll have to wait and see!
