The Wreck

Who are all the members of your band, and what do they play?

Right now it's just Joshua Zermeno (guitar) and Isaac Medrano (guitar and vocals) doing their thing but we're actively on the look out for a bass player and drummer!

When did the band get together, and how?

The Wreck as a band started in October 2004 when 3 best friends, Isaac, Josh and drummer Steven Torres decided to start jamming together as a punk rock trio. We soon brought in high school friend Andres Rubio on lead guitar and have since got through multiple line up changes, the most recent being Josh, Isaac, Michael Lahr on Bass and Stephen Razo on drums.

How would you describe your music to someone?

Our sound constantly evolves, but has always been rooted in punk and ska music. We listen to everything from Rancid to The Mars Volta and Billy Joel and try to put everything we learn into our music. If we had to describe our sound I would say it's closely related to the sound of the bastard child of Sublime and Streetlight Manifesto being molested by the Beatles. Download a demo of their acoustic track "In Contrast" on their ReverbNation page!

Who are some of the bands that influence your music?

We definitely look up to the aforementioned artists but are also heavily influenced by our fellow local musicians; A Lucky Tragedy and Jolly Moors to name a few. Our punk rock roots are held firmly in bands like The Misfits, Operation Ivy and Blink 182, and we're also way into The RX Bandits, Passafier and The Arctic Monkeys.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

As a band we played the backyard party circuit for years and all those great times were amazing, meeting new people and just having goodtimes on the weekends with all our friends. That community became a family to us. As an acoustic act the show we played at bombardiers really stood out and put an end to the insecurities Isaac and I felt about being an acoustic act.

What other bands have your members been/are in?

Josh is really the only band slut who likes to mess around with other projects. He's played with dead punk rock groups like Madgef's Boom and Stuck in Neutral.

What other local bands would you recommend people check out?

Definitely Jolly Moors, those guys know what rock music is and should be, they really blew us away when we first heard them and are also very good friends. A Lucky Tragedy was also a great one and have a full length C.D Coming out. Some other bands we really like are The Slinksters, My Anima and most recently IMA.

Where can people contact you to book you for shows?

Call or text Josh at 915 269 2316! or hit up or facebook pages and send a message! We're always down to play anywhere for anybody!
