A lot of people have been waiting for Rob Zombie's next film, since the success of "House of 1000 Corpses", "The Devil's Rejects", and "Halloween". So, when he announced he was filming "Lords of Salem", there was a lot of excitement about it. That excitement sort of settled down a lot, since time has passed and he's gone back to music and touring. But now, the movie has an official release date for the US!
You guys have really given me some good movies to share with everyone! Some classics, and some more obscure films! I shared 31 days of cool movies throughout October, but I have a few more suggested films from you guys that I want to share. Enjoy!
Seeing as it's Halloween, I guess I can do more scary movies, right? There are so many great films out there, it's impossible to list them all, nor are all of them good. But this movie really deserves mention, since the scene with the dogs really messed me up for a couple days.
I have to be predictable on this one. There's really no way around it. This is simply one of the best horror films ever made, and if Hollywood tries to remake it, I think we should all rise up and hang the executives en masse.
With the last two days of October upon us, I suppose you'd expect the usual movie today, like Halloween or Friday the 13th or something. But I'm not going to do that today. Instead, I'm going to give you one of my favorite scary movies, featuring one of my favorite actors, Lance Henriksen.
In the 80's, Dee Snider was a huge rock icon, fronting Twisted Sister, hosting Metal Shop on MTV, speaking against the PMRC. After the band broke up, he went on to write an album called Desperado that never saw the light and then formed Widowmaker in anger. When that band broke apart, he wrote and released a great movie based on the Horror-Teria story from the Twisted Sister album "Stay Hungry".
The 70's was a great decade for scary movies! It's hard to beat some of the amazing movies that were made back then, and as movie companies attempt to remake these films to cash in, they're hopefully learning to leave them well enough alone. The remake of The Omen, while a decent film, just didn't do to people what the original still does.
Back in 1988 I went to see this movie in the theaters with some friends (girls), and when I left, I had almost no feeling in my arms from being squeezed and clawed. There's nothing like seeing scary movies with girls, by the way.
Another great American film that is a remake of a foreign film makes the list for October 26. This time it's not from an Asian film, but from Spain.
With movies, it's a pretty safe bet that the first one is always the best. Okay, maybe The Empire Strikes Back is an exception to this, but as a rule, number one is number one. Another game-changing film is the first of its series, with some disturbing imagery, twisted story lines and a fantastic, wild ending.
Let's go back again for another great (but really campy) horror film from 1980! This one stars an older actor, not really known up to then as a horror actor. But he did such a great job in this movie, you can't help but love it!
