Miners senior forward Gabe McCulley gets the baseline feed from center John Bohannon and dunks it home in UTEP's 76-68 double-overtime win over Southern Miss.
Like the Don Haskins disciple that he is, UTEP head coach Tim Floyd says consistency and consistently-good defense are the reasons his Miners are winning big games.
Smart kid, and he has a future in sports talk radio! LeBron, how could you ignore that youthful enthusiasm, not to mention the reasoning? When he talks about 49 states cheering for you...except for Ohio -- man, not only is that a great line but he's also showing he knows his geography! How many other kids would even know there are 50 states?
You know Linsanity has gone to the next level when obscure singers of goofy 80's movie theme songs re-work their tunes to honor the New York Knicks' Asian sensation. That's exactly what happened with Mark Safan, singer of the theme for the amazing 80's basketball/werewolf comedy, "Teen Wolf".
It was one of the biggest UTEP basketball upsets in recent memory. The UTEP Miners beat the Memphis Tigers, 60-58, last Saturday, and did it in Memphis -- the team's first road win this season. This video is from longtime UTEP fan, MinersWon.
Here's a great sports moment -- it's late in the fourth quarter, score tied between New York and Toronto, New York Knicks Asian sensation Jeremy Lin has the ball in hands...BOO-yah! Oh, the Linsanity!
Eat your heart out, Curly Neal! This young artist, Red, says she played a little hoops back in her day. But painting with a basketball? Doubt her coaches taught her that. Amazing!
So much for peace and goodwill. The Georgetown Hoyas are in China to play a series of games there as part of a goodwill mission and to spread the basketball gospel. But maybe they should have known their game with the Bayi Rockets was not going to end well when, late in the game, the Rockets had shot over 50 free throws to the Hoyas 14.
It's no secret that I don't care much for basketball. (As I've said before; if it isn't football or motocross, who cares?!) I am now actively praying that the NBA can't avoid a strike.
It's not earth-(or rim-)shattering news -- this is Michael Jordan we're talking about here, and he is still 6-foot-6. But he's also a little creaky at age 48, so it's pretty cool that he just glides in and slams it down. Check out how he walks after he comes down, though. Looking a little more like he's 48.
Ever since the Miami Heat lost the NBA championship to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, the sports world had been wondering what's gonna happen with the team.
