Texas police are negotiating with an alleged gunman in an armored van who opened fire outside Dallas police headquarters early Saturday.  At a press conference, Dallas Police Chief David Brown talked about how the situation unfolded, but stressed no officers were injured.

Brown also said four suspicious bags were left near police headquarters, and a bomb squad found one of those bags contained pipe bombs.  Brown said police pursued the suspect to the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in the suburb of Hutchins, where more gunfire was exchanged.  Authorities think there may be more than one suspect.

UPDATE: Dallas Police Chief David Brown said a sniper shot the suspect in the standoff at 5 a.m..
