El Paso Man Accused Of Beating Girlfriend To Death

Police in El Paso have arrested 45 year old Eddie Estep for allegedly beating his girlfriend and then visiting her in the hospital every day before she died.  Tonya Brewer was found June 7th unconscious on the street with several injuries, and died after being taken off life support at the hospital days later.  A bystander told police he saw a man who resembled Estep standing over Brewer's body and trying to revive her before she was taken to the hospital.  Police said Estep has admitted to assaulting her.

Sheriff's's Office Finds Special Stolen Wheelchair

The Dona Ana County Sheriff's's Office was able to return a very special wheelchair to a little girl on Thursday thanks to a burglary investigation.  6 year old Dominique Perriguey uses a special wheelchair because of a chromosomal abnormality that makes her unable to walk or talk.  The chair was stolen from her family's house last month, and after they posted the story online, sheriff's deputies recognized the chair in evidence they had recovered during an investigation.

Expensive Drug Bust At The Border

Border agents seized an estimated $485,000 worth of marijuana in a drug bust on Wednesday.  The U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found the marijuana after x-raying the bed of a truck that was crossing the border from Mexico around noon.  The driver, Fidel Meza Utrera from Juarez, was arrested for smuggling.

Man Sues Catholic Diocese For 1970's Abuse

A man filed suit against the El Paso Catholic Diocese on Wednesday for alleged sexual abuse by a priest in the 1970's.  The man said he was sexually assaulted while serving as an alter boy at St. Patrick's Cathedral.  Bishop Mark Seitz said in a statement the accused priest, Father Denis Tejada, was removed from his post in 2002 after other sex abuses charges came forward.

Shooting At Juarez Restaurant Leaves One Dead

Two men were shot in broad daylight at a restaurant in Juarez Thursday afternoon.  One victim died after the shooting, which happened at Vips restaurant while an estimated 30 patrons dined inside.  Reports say one of the men was shot four times.  It was the second day in a row for daytime public shootings in Juarez, with one man killed at a handball court and another at a gas station on Wednesday.
