El Paso rocks! In part because we have so many of them. Rocks, that is -- including the biggest rocks around, the Franklin Mountains. Throw in some interesting weather and they can create some pretty spectacular sights.

Friday morning was one of those mornings, and before the sun really came up to burn away the clouds, there were plenty of those spectacular sights to be seen in the Franklin Mountains State Park and along Trans Mountain Road.

What you don't see -- the freaking wind was freaking cold! Of course, I hadn't anticipated going up into the hills, so my windbreaker had to do. Funny how they call them windbreakers because, with the right lunch, I break more wind than my jacket did Friday morning.

That said, it was worth it. God's green earth is worth seeing from time to time, even when the only green in these parts will poke you if you get too close.
