Lawmakers Demand Better Accounting of Border Funding
State lawmakers are calling for more oversight of the way police agencies use their funding for border security programs. Critics argue that state police haven't been held accountable for the way they've been using the border funds. State Senator Jane Nelson wants lawmakers to pass a spending bill that clearly defines just how the money can be spent.
Lawmakers Consider Medical Marijuana Oil
It's now up to the state House to decide whether Texas will legalize the use of a form of marijuana oil for the treatment of Epilepsy. The state Senate gave its approval yesterday. Critics of the measure worry that it might open the door to recreational use of the drug.
Fired Jailers Reinstated
Two fired guards are back on the job at the El Paso County Jail, after an arbitrator ordered their reinstatement. The jailers were dismissed last year after being accused of beating an inmate. But after prosecutors found insufficient evidence against them, the jailers demanded their jobs back. They'll also receive back pay for the time they missed.
$451 Million Bond Issue On Ballot
Voters go to the polls tomorrow to decide two major school bond issues. Ysleta Schools are asking for a 451-million-dollar bond issue for school construction. The Clint School System is hoping for passage of an 80-million-dollar bond issue to deal with overcrowding. Several city council and school board races are also on the ballot.

Don't be surprised if you run into some traffic delays tomorrow on I-25. A combination of road construction and graduation ceremonies at New Mexico State University could make for a rough Saturday. Several ramps will be closed and the DOT is suggesting you consider alternate routes around the area of the school.
