Man Arrested Following SWAT Standoff At Home

An El Paso man is facing possible charges following a SWAT team situation and brief police pursuit. Police arrested Daniel Sandoval yesterday morning following a pursuit that ended near Grouse Road and Dyer Street.  Police say Sandoval barricaded himself in his home on the 11900 block of Mesquite Bush Tuesday night after threatening to stab two of his neighbors.  A SWAT team responded to the home, and Sandoval escaped in his car before being apprehended.

Fire Damages El Paso Home

An investigation is under way into a fire that caused about $30,000 worth of damage to an El Paso home.  Fire officials say crews responded to the blaze at a house on the 6400 block of Aztec Road yesterday morning after neighbors reported smoke coming from the home.  Firefighters were able to contain the fire to about 10% within half an hour.  No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

Trump Heading To Texas For Border Visit

Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump is planning to be in Texas soon for a border visit.  The billionaire real estate mogul's campaign staff says Trump will likely meet with U.S. Border Patrol agents in Laredo today.  Trump has made illegal immigration a main theme since launching his campaign for the GOP nomination last month.  He has broadly referred to illegal immigrants as rapists and criminals.
