A local high school student will be showcased at this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards!

Montwood High School senior Catarina Gutierrez started singing when she was only 18 months old. Last year, her father enrolled her in the artist development program at Sound Stage 9 and there, according to SS9 owner Roger Argenis,

"We saw that she had star potential, but needed guidance and help to find her own voice. The SS9 team wrote, recorded, and produced her debut single, "Mirame" a cumbia ballad with a mix of pop and edm elements. The song was well received and eventually caught the attention of the Cumbia King himself, A.B. Quintanilla (Selena's brother)."

Catarina is set to release an EP later this year. Another Sound Stage 9 artist, rockers SayVerse, will also be showcased at the award show happening in Miami this April.
