Six Suspects Stand Trial On Murder Charges
A hearing is scheduled tomorrow in Juarez for six men accused of killing eleven women. Prosecutors say the suspects were running a human trafficking ring when they killed the victims, and buried their bodies in a shallow grave. The youngest victim was only 16-years old. All six suspects have denied the allegations.
Fire Heavily Damages El Paso House
Firefighters have not determined the cause of a fire that caused an estimated 90-thousand dollars damage to a house in El Paso yesterday. Firefighters say flames and smoke were spewing from the house in the 300 block of Santa Rosa Street when they arrived on the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the people who lived there are now homeless.

A U.S. Marshal says the streets of El Paso are safer today following the arrests of dozens of serious criminals recently. Marshal Robert Almonte says the arrests were part of Operation Violence Reduction, targeting gang members, violent criminals and sex offenders. In Almonte's words, "These fugitives are the worst of the worst." He says the suspects arrested in the El Paso area are facing charges including attempted murder, and sexual assault.
Lawmaker Wants To Ban Gay Conversion Therapy
A state representative has introduced a bill that would ban gay conversion therapy in Texas. However, Democrat Celia Israel admits her bill is facing an uphill battle in Austin. Israel says that's because the Republican Party in Texas has officially endorsed gay conversion therapy in its party platform. She points out 18 states have already have banned conversion therapy, and the American Psychiatric Association has condemned the practice.
Motorcycle Crash Injures Two People
Two people have been hospitalized and one is in serious condition following a motorcycle accident near Trowbridge and Gateway north. Police say the 25-year-old motorcycle driver ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a truck. The motorcycle driver has been treated for hip and wrist injuries at University Medical Center, but his 43-year-old passenger has been treated at the same hospital for serious head injuries.
San Elizario Wins State Championship
Congratulations are in order for the San Elizario boys soccer team after winning the 4-A state championship. San Elizario finished the season with a record of 18 wins, four losses and three ties after beating Liberty Hill 4-2 in the championship game. The final score was 4-2. It's the second state championship for San Elizario this school year after the boy's cross-country team won a state title in November.
