Border Agents Find More Than 1.5 Tons Of Marijuana In Truck

A Juarez man is accused of trying to smuggle more than one-point-five tons of marijuana into the U.S. Agents at the Santa Teresa Port of Entry in New Mexico say they found the drugs inside the empty flatbed trailer of the semitruck he was driving July 1st.  The drugs carry a street value of more than $2.7 million.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say they've arrested a Juarez man for trying to smuggle meth into the country inside his shoes.  Officials say 51 year old Carlos Fierro was attempting to cross the border at the Paso Del Norte port of entry July 2nd when agents noticed his bulky shoes.  Officers asked him to remove his shoes and found 2.4 pounds of methamphetamine inside.  Authorities say he's been turned over to federal agents.

Jeb Bush: End Sanctuary Cities For Illegal Immigrants

Republican Presidential candidate Jeb Bush says cutting off federal aid to local police would be an effective way to stop cities from providing so-called sanctuary for illegal immigrants.  Bush told a campaign audience in New Hampshire last night that sanctuary cities should be eliminated.  The former Florida governor told the crowd of more than 300 that the federal government should not provide law enforcement money for cities like San Francisco until they change their policies.

Blue Bell "Excited" To Begin Test Production

Blue Bell officials are excited their Alabama plant is about to start test production of ice cream.  Operations Vice President Greg Bridges says the Brenham-based ice cream maker has been working diligently to prepare their facilities for production.  Bridges also says they've been focusing on making sure their products are safe when they return to market.  Production is expected to resume at the Alabama plant in a few weeks so Blue Bell can confirm their new procedures, facility enhancements, and employee training have been effective.  Blue Bell shut down all their facilities earlier this year due to listeria contamination.
