Deputy Narrowly Escapes Injury in Chaparral

Our news partners at KVIA-TV featured this shocking dashcam video on their 5 o'clcok newscast. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I looked up at the tv screen. It comes our neighbors in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The video shows Deputy Abel Rodriguez from the The Doña County Sheriff's Office nearly escaping injury. After 26 year-old Robert Garcia speed off with the officer inside the vehicle. It happened back on February 20, Deputy Rodriguez pulled over Garcia because of an active warrant for his arrest in Otero County.

The deputy had to hit Garcia in the head with a flashlight to get him to stop the vehicle. Robert Garcia is being held on multiple charges and is being held on a $10,000 secured bond at the the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
