Must 2020 take everything away from us? Can't we just have ONE THING, 2020?! 7-Eleven has announced that they are canceling their "Free Slurpee Day". Since 2002, 7-Eleven has celebrated it's birthday on July 11th (because it's 7/11, get it?) and have given out a free Slurpee to the public. It's usually a small Slurpee, but it's free nonetheless, and, in the middle of July it's a refreshing treat!

7-Eleven Day usually attracts a ton of people each year. Because we are in a pandemic, 7-11 has decided that due to "uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic" it's best to not hold the event. 7-Eleven Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Marissa Jarratt says that their top priority is the safety of customers, Franchisees and employees.

If the thought of not getting a free Slurpee makes you sad, there's still a way for you to be able to get your Slurpee fix. Starting July 1st, all 7Rewards loyalty app members will receive a coupon for one free medium Slurpee in their account. This coupon is valid for all the month of July, ensuring that you still get your Slurpee fix while social distancing. July 11th comes but once a year but you can celebrate all month long with a free Slurpee, it's one per customer, but it's still free.

Now that I actually think about it, I haven't been inside any convenience store since the pandemic started, it has been MONTHS since I've had a Slurpee! The app, which I already have, is free to download and they offer other great deals.
