Everything’s Bigger in Texas Including This Giant Playable Guitar
Yes you've that saying before but it's definitely the case regarding this giant 6 stringed guitar. Musicians love bragging about how many guitars they own or how big their collection is but they don't compare to the massive guitar that was thanks to the state of Texas.
How big is the World's Biggest Playable Electric Guitar? Who built it?
The size of a normal guitar is usually around 38 inches long with a scale as long as 25.5 inches. That's a little over 3 feet long.
Well the biggest guitar that's playable is 14 TIMES that size; 43.5 feet long and 16 feet wide. This guitar was modeled after a 1967 Gibson Flying V & was built as a science project by Conroe ISD’s Academy of Science & Technology. (Dude why couldn't I have this as a science project??).
The giant 43 ft. long Flying V guitar was completed and presented to the world on June 2000. It officially named the "Largest Electric Guitar" by the Guinness Book of World Records in May of 2001.
The guitar was put on display at the Bullock Museum & has toured all over various museums in the United States ever since its built. You can see video of the guitar when it was on displayed at the Liberty Science Center in 2014.
The same guitar was on display at the Durham Museum Exhibit in Omaha, Nebraska.
Now if this guitar ever sees the world's biggest guitar amplifier (which is located in Orlando, Florida), we just might see a NEW world record be set: "world's loudest sound to come out of a guitar". A man can dream right?
