World Smile Day: 10 Ways to Make An El Pasoan Smile
Friday, October 1st was World Smile Day, and in that spirit, I've written about 10 ways to make an El Pasoan grin from ear to ear.
1. TAKE THEM TO GET THEIR FAVORITE TACOS
Every person born in El Paso, or who has spent more than one third of their life here, now has a completely changed set of DNA and is genetically mutated to love tacos. A real El Pasoan has their favorite taco spot (we don't always call them taquerias, looking at you California) whether it's Chico's Tacos, Chinampas, Taco's Don Cuco, or good old L&J's it's safe to say we are taco people.
2. GO TO THE RED PARROT
Speaking of tacos, an El Paso institution is the Red Parrot Cabaret which features beautiful women and great drink specials! If you really want to see an El Pasoan smile take them to the good ol' Parrot and ask for Darius; like wine the dancers are fine.
3. GO ON A TRIP TO 'SCENIC DRIVE', AT NITE
If you're looking for something more conservative but no less fun then try taking an El Pasoan on a night time cruise through scenic drive. Nothing puts a smile on a true El Pasoan faster than seeing the glory that is their city lit up like a crack head on pay day.
4. GO TO A STAND UP COMEDY SHOW AT THE EL PASO COMIC STRIP
The fastest way to a big ol' smile is to see live stand-up comedy at the world-renowned El Paso Comic Strip by Bart Reed: A 30-year El Paso institution bringing the best working stand up comedians straight to OUR doorstep!

5. BUY THEM A BEER
A real El Pasoan is genetically predisposed to liking beer, doesn't matter which kind.
6. THEN BUY THEM A SHOT
Also, El Pasoans love liquor, genetically speaking, so buy him/ her a shot if you want to see a gin grin. (See what I did there?)
7. GO TO KARAOKE
A genuine El Pasoan can't resist an open microphone and the backing music to Journey's, "Don't Stop Believing." Oh, we wont stop sir. Smiles will ensue.
8. LISTEN TO THE BUZZ ADAMS MORNING SHOW
An obvious one, and completely unbiased, listening to The Buzz Adams Morning Show is the greatest way to smile and enjoy life. I grew up in El Paso as a fan of the Buzz Adams Morning Show. My dad always said there was one man who could make him laugh every morning, and that man was Duke Keith.
9. BUY THEM A TOY!
Three words: Adult... Video.... Warehouse... Providing smiles since 1993 or whenever.
10. SING THEM SOME MARTY ROBBINS, "EL PASO"
As we all know, real El Pasoans who hear the dulcet tones of Marty Robbins, "El Paso" are required to stand up and join in singing, no matter where they are, privately or publicly. Marty Robbins strikes a chord (again, see what I did, impressive right?) in every El Pasoans heart which is directly linked to the smile muscle. I play it for my dad every time the Cowboys lose. So about once a week, every fall.
