Today on the show we talked about things that used to be uncool but are now considered cool. Here are some of the more generic things that seem to pop up a lot in this conversation.

  • Anime - More specifically I think Dragon Ball Z or newer versions of the show get brought up a lot.
  • Crocs - I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Are Crocs actually cool now? Well, just go by the Crocs store at the Outlet Mall. There is always a line to get in.
  • Dungeons and Dragons - This is definitely one thing that was NOT cool back in the day. D&D was for nerds and nerds only. More on nerds in a moment. D&D is something that has sort of hit the mainstream because there are a lot of famous people that play it. CLICK HERE to see a list of 25 celebrities who play.
  • Nerd Culture - Piggybacking on D&D, anything that used to be considered nerdy is now considered cool. A lot of that has to do with the kids who grew up on Star Wars are now adults, and also the MCU has really made comic books cool. Just look at San Diego Comic-Con.

These are just a few of the examples that popped up on the show. My question is, what used to be considered uncool in El Paso but is now considered cool? If there's anything I know about El Paso is it is a city that has grown immensely in just the past 10 years. I visited here in 2012 and it seemed like a completely different city.

So what do you think? What was something that used to be uncool in El Paso but is now considered cool?
