What Should We Do with Cohen Stadium?

The northeast landmark is seldom used and the potential exists for so much more.

An ElPaso411.com survey asked the question, "What should be done with Cohen Stadium"? Here are the top five answers they got:

• 1) Water Park. This one has actually been discussed. The idea of making it an indoor water park though, I think, would make it too cramped.
• 2) Amusement Park. I'm all for bringing a major theme park to El Paso but, I don't think Cohen's 50 acres is enough to do it right. (By comparison, Western Playland sits on about 30 acres while Fiesta Texas takes up well over 200.)
• 3) Amphitheater. This is my favorite idea! Plenty of room, access to hotels, restaurants, ample parking, etc. Along with that beautiful mountain view, it could become El Paso's own mini - "Red Rocks".
• 4) Drive-In Theater. Ehhh. Cool idea but, there are lots of places to build one. Plus, apparently, someone's already doing it.
• 5) Major League Soccer field. Huge sport around here for sure but, wasn't Southwest University Park supposed to host big matches?

These are all pretty good and number 1 may already be in the works. I still think there's a better idea out there somewhere though.
