Viral Video Sparks Rumors of Hit Show Filming in Texas
Yes, chef! Is the hit FX show "The Bear" changing locations from the Windy City to Texas?
That's what one viral video would suggest!
A TikTok from Anthony Jones (@theatxdrinker) showed Assembly Hall in East Austin with signs for "The Bear" and "Crew" directing them to a private event parking space.
That sounds very much like "The Bear" on FX which would probably already be filming its new season.
"The Bear" on FX is a drama-comedy series that follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (played by Jeremy Allen White), a young, award-winning chef who returns to Chicago to take over his late brother’s failing sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland.
The show gives you an intense look at kitchen culture, and it will also have you yelling out "yes, chef"!
However, upon further research, it would appear that no, Carmy isn't leaving Chicago for the Lone Star state- because this has nothing to do with the critically-acclaimed FX show, it's actually much cooler. The Bear is actually an Austin production company that just happened to be filming a commercial at Assembly Hall- this has been confirmed by the Austin Chronicle.
According to their website, The Bear is an 18-year-old company specializing in "commercials and branded content" like Whataburger and has worked with the likes of Richard Linklater, David Gordon Green and the Austin Film Society.
While some may be bummed to find out that Jeremy Allan White isn't actually filming in Texas, the confusion has led to more people discovering what The Bear in Austin is and what they do- and all the great projects they have brought to the Lone Star State!
