Tyler Connolly, Fieldy + Max Cavalera Share Mother’s Day Wishes
It’s Mother’s Day, and you know what that means – its all about mom! In honor of this very special day, a number of rockers weighed in with their thoughts and thanks for that irreplaceable lady in their lives.
Theory of a Deadman vocalist Tyler Connolly says, “My mother is a big supporter of our band, of course, and always wants to make sure we wear our seat belts on our tour bus. I don’t think she has a favorite song, but she always wonders where I got my terrible potty mouth from.” The singer says he always looks forward to playing at home, and laughs, “She’s the best at wrangling sluts for me. I love my mom.”
Korn bassist Fieldy says his mom is also very much in his camp. “My mom is a very big supporter of Korn, so big that she wants t-shirts, stickers, key chains, hats, bracelets … everything that we ever make,” says the bassist. Fieldy says one of his favorite moments as a musician was taking his mom to Europe while the band toured. “She had the best time of her life, on stage every night,” recalls the musician. “Her favorite song is ‘Got The Life,’ because she seemed to be dancing on the side of the stage the most for that one.”
The man of many bands, Max Cavalera, says his mom was essential to his musical growth. Before there was Sepultura, Nailbomb, Soulfly or Cavalera Conspiracy, there was little Max and his brother Igor playing at home. He explains, “She let everybody camp in our house. Our house was always full of metal kids.” Max says his mother is particularly fond of Sepultura’s ‘Beneath The Remains,’ as the lyrics remind her of living in Brazil during the early years of his life.
