El Paso's Beto O'Rourke launched his campaign for Texas Governor this week and there's already a controversy on the campaign trail. On Monday, former El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke made the not-so-shocking announcement that he would be running for Governor of Texas. Plenty of people were excited to see O'Rourke would be back in the Texas political spotlight, while others were less enthused. Still, Twitter was abuzz with people talking about it.

One tweet that stood out was from Katya who I assume is a Taylor Swift fan. She posted an old photo of actor Jake Gyllenhaal in a Beto For Texas shirt and explained how his endorsement may not be the best thing for Beto:

"BREAKING: PR nightmare within the first 24 hours of launching for Beto O'Rourke."

In case you aren't familiar, or just aren't a big T. Swift fan, the controversy surrounds a certain scarf she used to own. Taylor Swift recently re-released her hit album "Red" and on the song "All Too Well" Taylor sings about her scarf that she seems to leave at her former beau's house and says he's still holding on to the article of clothing. Later in the song, she sings about why she believes her former paramour may have wanted to keep her scarf:

“But you keep my old scarf from that very first weekCause it reminds you of innocence

And it smells like me

You can’t get rid of it

Cause you remember it all too well.”

There's no confirmation which scarf is the one in question, but Taylor was seen wearing a navy blue striped scarf, the same one that Jake Gyllenhaal has been seen wearing. Could be the scarf in question, or it could be a coincidence. Either way, Swifties now want Beto O'Rourke to help them get the scarf back to Taylor. No word from Beto yet on what his plan is or Greg Abbott if he is Team Taylor or Team Jake.
