Tragedy Strikes In El Paso’s 17th Traffic Fatality Of The Year

A tragic scene unfolded when a man walking the street was struck and killed by a motorcyclist, who then ran away.

Hector Mario Chavez was killed one Saturday night in March when he was suddenly mowed down by a speeding motorcycle. And there's more, I can't think of more cowardly things to do than get in an accident and cause someone harm, and then just run away. But that's exactly what happened on Saturday, March 26th.

According to the El Paso Police Department, "Bobby Gabaldon, the driver of the 2004 Yamaha Road Star, was released from the hospital and was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on Saturday 3/26/2022.

Charge: Accident Involving Injury or Death Bond: $75,000

Pedestrian: 50 –year old Hector Mario Chavez (deceased)

EL PASO, Texas — Special Traffic Investigations officers responded to the 7100 block of Chino to investigate a traffic fatality involving a pedestrian and a motorcycle. A pedestrian walking on the roadway was struck and killed by a motorcyclist traveling west on Chino Dr. After the crash, the motorcyclist fled on foot. About a quarter-mile away from the scene, a man covered in blood and tattered clothing was located by an officer. That man was identified as 45 –year old Bobby Gabaldon, the driver of the motorcycle. Gabaldon was transported to and admitted into an area hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash. Once released from the hospital, Gabaldon will be booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility."
