We should all be shocked that a man was murdered in the parking lot of a Socorro grocery store, Saturday, January, 29th.

El Paso is considered one of the safest cities in America, for a population of its size. This means there are so few murders, that when they do happen we should really pay attention.

A heinous crime is reported to have occurred in El Paso's own lower valley neighborhood of Socorro, this past Saturday morning, January 29th, 2022.

According to a report by our partners at KVIA's ABC7 News, police "...were responding to a fight reportedly occurring in the parking lot of Vista Quality Market," at the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Moon Road in Socorro, Texas.

Officers arrived at the scene only to find one man dead and one man standing in the parking lot of the grocery store. That's when the El Paso County sheriff's department took over the investigation.

40-year-old Cuatemoc Sanchez Espinoza has been ARRESTED and taken into custody for the murder of 78-year-old Rogelio Gonzalez. Deputies charged the man with murder and he is now being held on a 1 million dollar Bond.

According to the press release from the El Paso Sheriff's Department," the preliminary investigation determined that one male had died as a result of an altercation. The Socorro Police Department requested the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit. The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and determined that 78-year-old Rogelio Gonzalez died from wounds suffered during an altercation with 40-year-old Chauhtemoc Sanchez Espinoza.
