Who doesn't love the 1982 film "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial"? It's great! Today I learned, that the adorable E.T. we all know and love exists in the "Star Wars" universe! While doing my entertainment report, we were talking about the new season of "The Mandalorian" (which premieres on October 30th!) and throwing out ideas for what's to come. Brandon suggested they were going to make Baby Yoda a girl, and I learned that there was a lady Yoda in a "Star Wars" movie. I replied saying that was just E.T. in a dress and wig (you know that scene?).

Well, turns out, that E.T. is an actual part of the universe! Brandon & Buzz let me know that E.T. is actually a species named "Asogian" and their first appearance in the "Star Wars" universe was in "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace". Brandon shared a clip with me and I. WAS. SHOOKETH!

(Hint: pause at 15 seconds in).

According to Buzz there's a whole fan theory that I'm behind on but from what I read, it's all because George Lucas wanted to make good on a promise he made with Steven Spielberg. Apparently, after Steven Spielberg included a Yoda cameo on E.T., George Lucas promised to include E.T.'s in the next "Star Wars" movie he made. The E.T.- or Asogian- species cameo was supposed to be just an Easter egg, but fans have gone on to create a whole theory on why and how Asogian's exist in the galaxy far far away.

I always thought the trick or treating scene where E.T. sees the kid dressed as a Yoda was hilarious, now it makes much more sense!
