Watching a football game is fun but there really is no better feeling than actually being in the stadium watching your team play in person. Texas knows this; they love seeing their favorite teams play, whether it's the Cowboys or the Texans & it gets even crazier when you go to your OPPONENTS home stadium.

I recently visited the home of one of Dallas' biggest rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, as they took on MY favorite team, the Pittsburg Steelers at Philly's Lincoln Financial Field.

I have to say: it was a fun trip watching these two teams battle for Pennsylvania,  but there's a few things you need to know if you want to make the trip across the country.

Texans, if you got to an Eagles home, you better dress warm

If you visit a Cowboys/Eagles game IN Philadelphia, it's definitely different. AT&T Stadium is an indoor stadium so you can dress a little warmer. Lincoln Financial Field is...not.

If you visit early in the season, the weather might not be so bad. But if you do what I did & go in December, you better bring jackets, a beanie, hand warmers...anything to make sure you don't freeze your butt off when traveling to the stadium.

Texans, make sure you work up an appetite. You'll still find Texas favorites in Philly

While you have the local favorites like a Philly cheesesteak or the Philly Pressed Italiano sandwich at the stadium, you DO have favorites that Texans love like BBQ chicken, BBQ pulled pork & Frito pie burritos. So you can still enjoy a little taste of Texas in Philly.

If you're a Dallas Cowboys fan, be prepared...

You're gonna get a LOT of hate if you're seen wearing a Cowboys jersey. The fans in Philly will show no mercy in letting you know how much they don't like the Cowboys. As a Steelers fans, they busted my chops (they were the opposing team so of course they did) but many fans made it clear who their biggest football rival was.

But the most important thing is...it's a game. Remember...there's no actual hate. While yes they may boo the opposing team, they're not booing YOU. After the plays were over, most of the fans would actually pat them on the shoulder and talk to them. So there's no disrespect at all.

Another important thing is that Eagles fans aren't booing Texas either; they still show a ton of respect for Texas players who are with the Eagles or have played for them:

  • Lane Johnson, who helped the team win a Super Bowl in 2017, is from Groveton, Texas
  • Tristin McCollum is from Galveston,
  • Bill Bradley from Palestine is in the Eagles Hall of Fame,
  • & of course Jalen Hurts, their quarterback, is a Houston native.
  • There were also a huge number of Randall Cunningham jerseys; being from El Paso this was neat because we even have a street named after him in town. El Paso also has a ton of former UTEP Miners who have gone to play FOR the Eagles so that's also worth mentioning too.

So if you decide to plan that trip to see the Cowboys on the road (especially in Philadelphia), take these tips to heart with you. You might need them...
