We've seen citizens from Texas become the President, but we don’t usually see our citizens SAVE the President of the United States from being assassinated. But back in 1994 that’s exactly what happened, when one Texas man saved not only the U.S. President, but everyone around him from a crazed gunman who took shots at former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

This is the story of Francisco Martin Duran & Harry Rakosky

On a beautiful day in Washington D.C. on October 29, 1994, Francisco Martin Duran, would pulled out a semiautomatic rifle and started firing at the White House... in front of a large group of people. While most people ran away, Harry Rakosky, from San Antonio, charged at Francisco and tackled him to the ground.

After being subdued for a few seconds, Francisco was placed under arrest when police arrived. No one was killed in the attack; the only casualties were a couple bullet holes found in the White House. Harry’s actions of bravery even won him a Medal of Honor.

The clip gained a lot of popularity when it was shown on various television shows like Maximum Exposure and World’s Most Amazing Videos.

Where is Harry Rakosky now?

Today Harry is a Texas Game Warden who currently lives in Hidalgo County; he even became Game Warden of the Year back in 2020.

It’s unknown if Harry brings up the story of him saving President Bill Clinton back in 1994, but we certainly do remember that story & we absolutely thank him for his brave actions. I’m sure everyone who was visiting Washington DC that day also gives him their thanks too...
