English and Spanish are the two most common languages spoken in Texas, but did you know that there is a third most spoken language in Texas?

This is according to WordFinderX, a language blog who used Census data to discover the most spoken tongues (other than English and Spanish) across American neighborhoods.

You would think that with the amount of people who speak English in the United States, that it would be the official language of the country, but it's not. The United States doesn't have an official language; but it is determined that English is the number one language spoken in homes across the country with 78% of Americans speaking English.

After English, Spanish is the next language spoken by 62% of non-English speaking households. And what did WordFinderX determine was the third most spoken language in Texas? Check out the map below.

Vietnamese is the third most spoken language in Texas! It's quite prevalent in cities like Garland, Arlington and Houston, which is also where you’ll find the second-largest population of Vietnamese-Americans in the entire country.

Turns out, Vietnamese is widely spoken throughout the southwest; the language came in as the third most spoken language in Oklahoma and Mississippi as well.

As for us in El Paso? Turns out that the third most spoken language here is German! Although, some might say "Spanglish" is a third language here in the Sun City!
