If you aren't aware of the Golden Ticket promotion... um... I'm not really sure what to say. First of all, how do you not know about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It's one of the biggest kid's books of all time and has even spawned multiple movies with some big name actors like Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp.

If that's not enough, there's no way you missed this from The Office.

The man who started Jelly Belly jelly beans is getting ready to retire and he's 'giving away one of his factories'. Okay, there's a lot to unpack here, but here's the gist of it. It's not really like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Here's how the contest is going to work:

  • There is a necklace hidden in all 50 states.
  • You need to go to thegoldticket.com and purchase a ticket for the scavenger hunt for $50.
  • If you find the necklace that's located in your state, you win $5000 and you're entered in a drawing to win the candy factory.
  • You don't win all of Jelly Belly, you win a factory. Which of course reminded me of that Simpsons episode when Bart and Milhouse find an abandoned warehouse.

So, is it worth it to head out on this scavenger hunt? Yes, I guess. I think it also depends on the state you live in. Texas is a big ass state. It's vastly different trying to find something here than Vermont or Rhode Island. But if you have $50 and some extra time, go for it.
