Lucha Libre has an immense following, both in Mexico and other countries, and is the most popular sport after soccer across the border, thus becoming an integral part of pop culture.

Lucha Libre's history dates back as far as a century; however, it wasn’t until the 80s, during its Golden Age in Juárez, that Lucha Libre became a cultural symbolism and continues to ripple into today’s modern age and pop culture.

The Lucha Libre theme has also proven a big hit for the film industry with movies like Nacho Libre. The 2006 film is loosely based on the story of a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a side gig as a masked luchador in order to support the orphanage he directed.
