The Darkness To Release New Album ‘Hot Cakes’ in August
Seven years after their last album, British rockers the Darkness will release their third studio album ‘Hot Cakes’ on Aug. 21 in the United States via Wind-up.
‘Hot Cakes’ was produced by band members Justin (vocals) and Dan (guitars) Hawkins along with Nick Brine. In a recent interview, Justin Hawkins described the new album. “It’s pretty cool, there’s a good blend of old school rock and then some more luxurious rock and then there’s a big power ballad on it. We’re very happy with the mix of material.”
Taking the world by storm with 2003′s ‘Permission To Land,’ the Darkness had radio hits such as ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ and ‘Love Is Only a Feeling.’ 2005′s ‘One Way Ticket To Hell…and Back’ was not as successful, and the band went on hiatus after Justin Hawkins departed.
The Darkness reunited with their original lineup at 2011′s Download Festival, and have been touring steadily ever since. The band will be touring the world this summer, kicking things off in Australia on May 4. They’ll also be playing a handful of U.S. shows, including the InfieldFest (Baltimore, Mary.), Rock On The Range (Columbus, Ohio) and Rocklahoma (Pryor, Okla.) festivals.
Beginning in August, the Darkness will be opening for Lady Gaga on her European tour. Apparently Gaga is a fan of the band and hand-picked them for the tour.
