A Texas woman that was pardoned by Former President Barack Obama was arrested and is now back in jail.

Last year, President Obama granted clemency to Carol Denise Richardson and she was freed from a life sentence in jail. Now, she is back behind bars for her actions.

The 49 year-old was arrested for theft on April 13th, which was a violation of conditions for her release from prison. Richardson has a lengthy rap sheet and was convicted and jailed in 2006 for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine and two counts of possession with intent to distribute the drug. Due to her previous crimes, she was sentenced to life in prison.

The Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted Imperato was upset with the way Richardson threw away her second chance:

"This defendant was literally given a second chance to become a productive member of society and has wasted it. She has clearly shown a willful disregard for the law and must face the consequences for her crimes and actions."

Richardson has now been ordered back to prison for 14 months and five years of supervised release. Richardson told police she stole $60 worth of laundry detergent she wanted to sell to buy drugs.
