Texas Had The USA’s Largest Truck Stop – For About A Year
The largest truck stop in the USA opened in Texas. One year later, it's been completely shut down.
Truckers Paradise was meant to be a mecca for trucklers. Billed as "America's Biggest Truck Stop", it was a place where truckers were the heroes and would be treated as such.
The concept was ambitious: convert a former outlet mall off Interstate 35 into a one-stop destination for truckers — complete with restaurants, fueling lanes, retail stores, lounges, massages and entertainment areas. In just about a years time, that lofty goal and the truck stop built to achieve it are, with apologies to John Milton, a true "paradise lost". Their Facebook page hasn't been updated since October 29th and there's nothing but a "thank you" message on their website.
What Happened To Truckers Paradise?
The short answer is, everything. After a very successful grand opening and after generating tons of excitement among truckers, travelers and the local community in Gainesville, Texas; the project ground to a halt.

It was a repurposed shopping mall along I-35 which is a super busy stretch of highway running from Dallas to Oklahoma and beyond. So much freight rolls through there, it seemed the perfect location for a massive truck stop that would have been huge for tourism, given truckers that "special" treatment and helped boost the local economy.
Around the middle of 2025, employees were dealing with delayed paychecks, inconsistent payroll schedules and direct deposit failures. These were blamed on “investor issues” and “unexpected project costs”.
The Last Straw
The landlords, Thirty-Five & Liberty, gave Truckers Paradise the boot after a series of attempts to work things out failed.
