Prom season is officially here! It's a rite of passage for many teens across the country and a chance to get excited for things like promposals, picking out a dress or tux and figuring out how you're going to split the cost of a limo. However, for one Lubbock, Texas teen, all that seemed so out of reach for her.

While most of her classmates were busy preparing themselves for prom, 16-year-old Jasmin Perez was getting cancer treatments. Jasmin, a student of Seagraves High School, was diagnosed with leukemia in August and has spent most of her junior year in and out of cancer treatments, to her, prom was not something she anticipated.

Luckily, Jasmine has an older brother who was not about to let prom get away from her. Her brother, Roman, who is a senior, along with the Jasmine's medical team, managed to bring the prom to her in less than 72 hours! Grab the tissues because this will make you cry but also, fill your heart with joy!

The dress, the corsage and the dance all came together thanks to love of one brother, and the help from her specialist and the Lubbock community!

For one unforgettable night, a hospital room transformed into a dance floor, even Justin Bieber made an appearance in the form of a cardboard cutout, and Jasmine was reminded that even in the darkest moments, love finds a way to shine.

Although she still has a ways to go in her recovery, Jasmin says she now has something to look forward to: her senior prom. Moments like this remind us that behind every diagnosis is a life still full of dreams. Raising awareness for childhood and teen cancer means remembering stories like hers—and fighting to make sure no one misses the milestones that matter.
