We need to talk about what’s happening in Texas right now.

Because somewhere along the way, somebody looked at pickles, looked at frozen dessert, and said: you know what? Let’s make this happen.

Now H-E-B has introduced a limited-edition Pickle Chamoy Sherbet and, despite some mixed reactions online, I’m starting to think Texas may have been preparing for this moment all along!

Texas Has Been Preparing For Pickle Ice Cream

If any state was going to embrace pickle ice cream, it was always going to be Texas. Texans have a history of making unusual flavor combinations work.

We love spicy candy. We put chamoy on just about everything. Pickle kits, pickle snow cones, and pickle-flavored snacks already exist and somehow became completely normal.

So maybe pickle chamoy sherbet isn’t actually that shocking.

H-E-B’s newest frozen creation combines pickle-flavored sherbet, pickle pieces, and a tamarind chamoy swirl- which sounds both confusing and incredibly Texas at the same time.

Not Everyone Is Sold On H-E-B's New Flavor

Online reactions have definitely been mixed.

Some people are confused. Some seem personally offended. Others appear deeply concerned about pickle chunks ending up in frozen dessert.

To be fair, I don't think these ladies are actually from Texas!

And honestly, on paper, pickle ice cream sounds like one of those fake internet foods somebody invents as a joke.

But this is also Texas. The same state that looked at spicy candy and said: needs more chamoy.

Texas Might Already Be Ready For This

Here's my theory: people are joking about it now, but curiosity is eventually going to win.

Because the next time you're walking through H-E-B and spot Pickle Chamoy Sherbet in the freezer aisle, are you really not stopping to look? Exactly!

Maybe Texas isn’t shocked by pickle ice cream.

Maybe Texas has been waiting for it!
