Considering It’s Illegal, Why Does Texas Sell Tons Of Marijuana?
Texas has steadfastly refused to legalize marijuana yet it's still for sale all over the lone star state. Legally.
Yep, Texas ... probably the most anti - pot state in the USA ... has got twice as many dope dispensaries as California where recreational marijuana IS legal. We've got over 7,000 of these suckers.
Plus, lots of cannabis delivery service, mobile pot trucks and cannabis vending machines. You can even have it shipped via mota mail order.
Crazy, huh?? It's true though, there are a myriad of ways to score marijuana in Texas, not counting street level dealers. Parts of Texas are right on the US - Mexico border which makes pot even easier to get but legal weed is easier and less risky to deal with so those guys are falling out of favor.
NPR says marijuana seizures by the Border Patrol are down 72%. El Paso sits on the US - Mexico border AND the Texas - New Mexico border. Sunland Park, New Mexico leads the state in legal, recreational marijuana sales and that is, to a great degree, because it's such an easy, almost imperceptible hop for El Pasoans to make.
Why So Much Legal Weed In Texas?
The pot genie got out of the bottle in Texas in 2018 when a hemp friendly farm bill was passed. It was meant to open up the hemp market to farmers associated with the fiber market but it also, inadvertently, opened the door to hemp sales of all kinds.
Now, THC heavy hemp ... originally, folks were only supposed to sell hemp with little or no THC ... is everywhere, the legal hemp market in Texas has just about put the black market out of business and even those FOR legal marijuana are starting to ask for better regulation of it.
Crazy times. Especially for Texas lawmakers who still refuse to legalize what is now available, legally, just about every-freaking-where.
