The Christmas Cookies All Texans Seem to Love Most
Okay, I don't think I've ever heard of this, but knowing that it is the top trending Christmas cookie in Texas, I'm going to have to give them a try!
Tis the season for baked goods! It's the time of year where baking cookies for Santa means sneaking a few for yourself; because calories don't count during the holidays, right?
When it comes to baked goods, Texans don't mess around! And when it comes to the ones that Texans are making the most, well, I have to say I was a bit surprised.
According to the folks over at Unscrambler, they found the top trending Christmas cookie in each state; and while you may think that Texas has a basic cookie they want, you would be wrong!
Using Google Trends, Unscrambler determined that the top trending Christmas cookies in Texas were: Italian Christmas cookies.
Italian Christmas cookies vary by region, reflecting the rich culinary diversity of Italy. They're often flavored with ingredients like almonds, citrus, anise, honey, and spices, and they may be decorated with festive glazes, sprinkles, or powdered sugar.
After some research, I found that the most popular Italian Christmas cookie that Texans are making during the holidays are Ricotta cookies, which are soft and moist cookies made with ricotta cheese for a tender texture and topped with a sweet glaze and sprinkles.
And they do, indeed, look delicious! If you're like me and didn't even know these kinds of cookies even existed, maybe this is the year to make something new for Santa!
