Fake Rock Band Busted With 200 Pounds Of Cocaine In Texas
A member of (fake) English band Spinal Tap got caught trying to smuggle a cucumber onto a plane. This fake Mexican band got popped in Texas smuggling a ton of coke.
Spinal Tap, (a totally made up band), bassist Derek Smalls wasn't trying to smuggle the cucumber anywhere either. He was trying to ... ahem ... "impress the ladies", if you will.
A fake Mexican rock band, no name given, truly was trying to smuggle drugs into the USA though and they fared no better than poor Derek. Except, instead of getting laughed at a little, these guys and their bus driver are looking at hard time.
200 pounds of cocaine is no joke and that's what the Border Patrol caught these guys trying to bring into the USA via the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge in McAllen, Texas.
An X-ray of the bus showed an "anomaly" in the gas tank which caused Border Patrol agents to send it for a secondary inspection. Good for them but some other agents may, like Derek, be in for a little teasing.
Records show, and some of the "band" members also admitted, that this "wasn't their first rodeo" ...
The bus crossed the Hidalgo bridge in the “early morning hours approximately every week to two weeks,” according to the criminal complaint, with Jauregui behind the wheel.
After crossing the bridge, the bus would head north. It typically passed through the Falfurrias checkpoint about 90 minutes later.
The bus would return to Mexico the next morning. - valleycentral.com
