Summer in Texas came in like a bull in a china shop and hasn't let up since. These are the days when we truly know who's wearing deodorant and who merely rubs crystals on their armpits.

Boy, talk about a hot summer.

With the heat comes lots of sweat thus a ridiculous report about the 'sweatiest cities in America', thanks to the website MyDatingAdviser.com.

Since we go big or go home here in Texas, and it's flat out hot here, it should come as no surprise that Texas had 3 cities in the top 10 sweatiest in our great land. However, the actual cities, from Texas, may surprise you as they did me.

The website stated that they used only 3 factors when determining the sweatiest cities, and those are:

  • Weather
  • Sweat Factors
  • Cooling Off

Those categories are broken down even further:

  • Average Summer Temperature
  • Length of Summer
  • Humidity Level
  • Days of Excessive Heat
  • Population Density
  • Exercise Rate

Humidity makes the most sense as the higher it is, the wetter you will become.

That’s why the majority of the 10 sweatiest cities in America are located in the more humid pockets of the country — and if you happen to live in one of those pockets? You are probably stronger than the rest of us. [MyDatingAdviser.com]

The website also reported on only the top 200 metro areas, so Abilene (and surrounding cities) weren't included.

What Texas cities made the top 10 sweatiest in America?

Laredo, Texas

Laredo is #9 on the list and is no surprise considering almost half of the year is spent with temperatures above 90 degrees.

Houston, Texas

Houston came in as the 6th sweatiest in America thanks to an average humidity of 74%. As a Houston native, I can confirm the sole reason I left was because of the humidity.

Corpus Christie, Texas

Corpus is the 2nd sweatiest city in America and like the other 2 is right on the water so you can expect the humidity level to be fairly high and it is, 76% on average.

The other 7 sweatiest cities in America include Jacksonville, Florida, Cape Coral, Florida, Montgomery, Alabama, Tallahassee, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Orlando, Florida.

The heat here in Texas is easy to deal with as long as you're on a river...in a tube...with cold beer.
