Temporary Northeast El Paso Ramp Closures Aren’t So Temporary
This past weekend, part of US - 54 was closed and some of the on and off ramps shut down are going to stay that way for at least 6 months.
Orange barrel mania has finally made it to the Northeast ...yay. Work to widen US-54 has finally kicked in and some closures have taken place with more to come. According to the El Paso Times:
The work is to add one lane in each direction of the highway from Transmountain Drive to Hondo Pass Drive and will change the ramp configurations in that stretch of highway. It will also add turnaround lanes at several frontage road intersections with the highway, including at Hondo Pass, Diana Drive and Woodrow Bean Drive.
The ramps that will be closed for 6 months are ... so far ... the northbound Hondo Pass on ramp and both the (northbound) on and off ramps at Diana. More closures are coming so, if you would like to have TxDoT email traffic alerts to you, click here.
