Enjoy a Proper Spot of Tea at this Iconic Tearoom in New Mexico
If you're like me and have always wondered what exactly does "afternoon tea" consist of, well you're in luck because the St. James Tearoom in New Mexico has just the answer you're looking for.
St. James Tearoom
The St. James Tearoom, located at 320 Osuna, Rd. in Albuquerque, has been serving afternoon tea since 1999 and it has made the top of several lists as one of the best tearooms in the country!
The menu at St. James Tearoom changes with each theme; for example right now they're hosting a whimsical wonderland tea party (think Alice in Wonderland), their upcoming tea themes will be Tea in the Hundred Acre Wood and Tea with Mr. Darcy; but in the past, they have hosted themes such as Harry Potter and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
With each theme, you can expect a variety of savories, such as sandwiches and dumplings, accompanied by breads and sweets and, of course, tea. Your party can be served in your choice of indoor or outdoor seating. I imagine that these afternoon teas are best served outside, especially in the spring time!
The tearoom is reservation only and afternoon tea lasts about two hours. You can also book your own private event; for those of us who hosted pretend tea parties with our stuffed animals as children, this is like a dream come true!
It's easy to see why this tearoom has grown in popularity since it's opening in 1999; there's really no other place that offers an experience like this.
