Slipknot’s ‘Tortilla Man’ Actually Wore a Real Tortilla Onstage
For now, the identity of Slipknot percussionist "Tortilla Man" remains a mystery, though there's some strong ideas as to who he really is. Either way, Slipknot are certainly having fun with the meme as their newest member actually wore a real tortilla onstage at an Aug. 23 concert.
This is the zenith of the "Tortilla Man" saga as one Reddit user captured an image from the Burgettstown, Penn. gig of Shawn 'Clown' Crahan and the new percussionist facing one another while the rookie holds a tortilla with two eyeholes and a marker-drawn stitched mouth to his mask.
See that image directly below as well as a closeup of the tortilla that one fan was lucky enough to walk away with. "Much better than catching a pick or a stick," wrote the Reddit user.
Fans recently pieced together clues with a huge help from guitarist Jim Root who revealed the new Slipknot member is a "world-class pianist" and schooled musician. Some believe that "Tortilla Man" is actually Michael Pfaff, keyboardist from Dirty Little Rabbits, a band that Clown is also a member of. Pfaff hasn't performed locally since Chris Fehn and Slipknot parted ways and possesses a similar physical build to this unknown member.
Whatever the theories are, just don't expect Slipknot to confirm if if or when anybody figures it out. Corey Taylor made that quite clear already.
If the trend continues, maybe you can catch a stage-worn tortilla for yourself at one of the remaining Knotfest Roadshow tour dates. See those below and head here for tickets.
