Texas Tune Tales: Slash’s Iconic Collabs With Local Music Masters
The legendary guitarist, Saul Hudson, aka Slash, has a long history with Texas. Not only has he performed several amazing shows in the Lone Star state, but he's also worked with some of Texas' incredible musicians. In his career, Slash has appeared in literally hundreds of songs from other artists; here are some that involve Texas musicians.
Slash worked with the legendary Billy Gibbons
Billy Gibbons is a LEGENDARY in Texas, Billy has been listed as one of Slash's favorite guitarists of all time, so it's no surprise that Slash would work with the iconic ZZ Top guitarist. Billy recently made an appearance on Slash's album, Orgy of the Damned; they both did a cover of "Hoochie Coochie Man", originally written by Willie Dixon & recorded by Muddy Waters.
Slash has also worked with Gary Clark Jr. from Austin, Texas
If you follow Slash on Instagram, you might have seen his post where he praised the Austin, Texas guitarist & his guitar solos. Gary would record with Slash in 2024 as well. On that same record, Slash would include the rising star, Gary Clark Jr. on their version of "Crossroads" by Robert Johnson.
Even Beaumont's Edgar Winter worked with Slash
In 2008, Edgar Winter would release his 10th studio record, Rebel Road; Slash would appear on the title track.
Slash even worked with Demi Lovato, someone who was born in New Mexico but grew up in Dallas when she was younger; in fact they've appeared on each other's songs:
Slash appeared on Demi's song, "Sorry Not Sorry" & Demi would appear on Slash's Orgy of the Damned album by performing a cover of "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" originally by The Temptations.
No matter who he's worked with, Texas or not, Slash will always be a legend and regarded as one of the biggest names in rock.
