Set from DiCaprio Del Toro Movie Donated to EP Habitat for Humanity
At the end of June, we had a cool, interesting story about a big Hollywood movie being shot in El Paso and how some El Pasoans pieced together the clues about what the movie is and who the director and actors are.
The folks who figured it out work for the El Paso Habitat for Humanity and they sold some items to a set director. Anyway, they figured out what the movie was from the guy’s IMDB. You can read all about that backstory here.
Sure enough, sightings of Hollywood A-listers like Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio Del Toro were being made in downtown El Paso. Benny D. was even seen at a Chihuahua’s game!

Now, there’s a new twist to the story and it’s awesome. The folks at the El Paso Habitat for Humanity say the movie company, Warner Brothers made a huge donation! Nancy Gomez, the manager of Habitat’s ReStore, says they received “several truckloads of donated furniture” from Warner.
The veteran set director is a man named Sam Tell. It was our understanding that Tell bought “several items” of furniture from the ReStore. It DIDN’T sound as if he bought several truckloads, though, so maybe they donated the stuff they bought in El Paso PLUS other items they’d accumulated. Whatever the case, Habitat is very grateful. They posted on their FB, “Thank you Warner Brothers…all of your support in purchasing as well as donating is greatly appreciated”.
Now, ReStore has all the stuff they sold to Tell plus some more. And...any of the furniture that makes it into the movie will officially be “screen used memorabilia. So, if you’re in the market for a chaise that Leo DiCaprio sat on or a lamp that Benny Del Toro read by, you should go and check out Habitat for Humanities ReStore.
