Need Free School Uniforms? Swap Events Help El Paso Families with Back to School Expenses

As the start of the school year nears, El Paso families already struggling with finances will have yet another expense to budget for: back to school expenses.

If your child’s school requires uniforms, several civic organizations are helping families lessen the back-to-school burden with school uniform swaps taking place Saturday, July 23.

12th Annual Lions Club School Uniform Swap

The Ysleta, Five Points, and Executive Womens Lions Clubs are sponsoring the community wide uniform swap taking place at Eastlake High School. The swap, open to families from all districts and schools, works like this:

Those who want first dibs at the exchange are encouraged to turn in their gently used, clean uniforms at one of the seven locations listed below. In return, they will get a voucher that allows them to shop first on the day of the swap.

Uniform pieces that can be traded in include polo shirts, T-shirts, pants, shorts, capris, skirts and skorts.

One does not have to trade in uniforms to receive assistance, however, those without a voucher will be allowed in after people holding a voucher have received theirs.

MOB's Back to School Event

Organized by Mothers On Board in collaboration with the El Paso Downtown Lions Club service organization, El Paso's largest community wide uniform swap will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Ascarate Park.

The swap is open to families from all districts and schools, and works just like the Annual Lions Club School Uniform Swap: trade in your clean, gently-used school uniforms and receive a voucher that you exchange for an equal number of pieces at the Uniform Swap event.

The major difference between the two is that at this one families can also pick up school supplies and backpacks on that day, and get a haircut and/or a physical.
