While the city is ecstatic the Border West Expressway is finally open, there is still quite a lot of construction happening on El Paso Roads. We've finally seen some of the major road projects coming to a close, and the improvements are making the commutes home better and better! Still, there are some projects that are just getting started or are getting the finishing touches. To make sure you're not stuck sitting in traffic due to construction on your commute, you've come to the right place. To find out what major freeway and road closures are happening this week, check out the list below.

I-10 Connect

Monday, Feb. 8, - Thurs., Feb. 11 (9 pm - 5 am NIGHTLY)

  • Southbound US 54 will be reduced to two lanes between Cassidy Road and Pershing Drive.
  • Main lanes of southbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic between Pershing Drive and Trowbridge Drive.

 

Monday, Feb. 8, - Thursday, Feb. 11 (9 pm - 5 am NIGHTLY)

  • Westbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane between Trowbridge Drive and US 54.
  • Ramp A which connects westbound I-10 to northbound US 54 will be reduced to one lane.

Monday, Feb. 8, and Tuesday, Feb. 9 (9 pm - 5 am NIGHTLY)

  • Main lanes of northbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic between I-10 and Pershing Drive.

Wednesday, Feb. 10, and Thursday, Feb. 11 (9 pm - 5 am NIGHTLY)

  • Main lanes of northbound US 54 will be closed to all traffic between I-10 and Montana Avenue.

East Area Closures

 

Loop 375 Frontage Road Project

Monday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 12 (Be prepared to stop)

Daily, from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

  • South Americas Avenue (frontage road) southbound to northbound turnaround will be blocked occasionally
  • South Americas Avenue southbound to northbound traffic will remain open and be flagged through work zone

Crews will be hauling material for retaining walls

Zaragoza/Montwood Improvement Project

Monday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 12

Daily, from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. and continuous until further notice

  • Montwood Drive westbound complete lane closure between Joe Battle Boulevard and Firehouse Drive
  • Traveling public will be shifted to eastbound lanes of roadway
  • New section of Zaragoza will be open at Joe Battle Boulevard southbound to Montwood Drive to relieve traffic congestion

Crews will be reconstructing placement of concrete panels

Advanced Warning Signs Project

Wednesday, Feb. 10 through Friday, Feb. 12

7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

  • Cesar E. Chavez Border Highway westbound right lane and shoulder closure before Fonseca Drive exit ramp to one mile after Fonseca Drive exit

Crews will be installing delineators and object markers

 

RM 652 Full Rehabilitation Project

Monday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 12

Daily, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and continuous until further notice

  • RM 652 continuous left lane closure 8.36 miles east of FM 3541 to Reeves County Line
  • Continuous two-way traffic, one-lane work zone requiring traffic to be alternating onto one lane and controlled by Temporary Traffic Signals with a 14-foot vertical clearance

Closure is necessary for the construction of new roadway consisting of full depth rehabilitation

RM 652 Full Depth Rehabilitation Project

Monday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 12

Daily, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and continuous until further notice

  • RM 652 continuous left lane closure 5.4 miles east of Montana Avenue (US 62/180) to RM 1165/652
  • Continuous two-way traffic, one-lane work zone requiring traffic to be alternating onto one lane and controlled by Temporary Traffic Signals with an 18-foot vertical clearance

FM 3541 Rehabilitation Project

Bridge Rail Project

Closure is necessary for rehabilitation of bridge rail project consisting of removal of existing guardrail and bridge rail elements and installation of new guardrail and bridge rail elements and safety end treatments

Median Cable Barrier Project

  • I-10 alternating eastbound and westbound right lane and shoulder closures between Tornillo Exit to Ft Hancock Exit to include entrance and exit ramps
