The new Sam's Club in Grapevine, Texas is a harbinger of things to come ... no telling yet when we'll get one here in El Paso.

Sam's Club lost their store in Grapevine, Texas to a super strong tornado back in 2022. At first, it seemed Sam's was going to leave it closed for good but it's back now.

Not only is it back, it's pointing the way to the future of Sam's Club outlets across the board.

While there will be human employees on site, cashiers will not be among them. You're on your own at Sam's 2.0 ...

“You’re going to walk into this club and it’s a fully digital experience,” Chris Nicholas, CEO and president of Sam’s Club, said in an Oct. 7 video interview with Omni Shop Retail. “The first thing you’re going to notice on your left-hand side is there are no registers. We expect 100% digital engagement in that club, which means everyone is shopping Scan & Go.” - startelegram

There will be all kinds of changes in addition to ditching the cashiers. The Grapevine location will still make those famous pizzas but with a robot chef. This guy can crank out 100 pizza's per hour.

Grapevine will also have a redesigned eating area and an in-house tortilla machine. I don't know when El Paso will see a new "digital" Sam's but you know that tortilla machine is going to go in first.

Unless they also come up with a robot Margarita maker, then that may go in first. PS: If/when you visit one of these, don't forget your phone.
