One of my favorite events is almost here- the Plaza Classic Film Festival! I attend every year and look forward to the guests and films they show. This year, Academy award nominee- and the man with the epic 'stache and voice- Sam Elliott will return to El Paso! Elliott won't be alone this year though, his wife Katharine Ross will join him as the two speak before a 50th anniversary showing of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Legacy.

This will be the El Paso Community Foundation's 12th annual Plaza Classic Film Festival which takes place in or around the historic Plaza Theater in downtown El Paso. This year's festival runs from August 1st to August 11th. You can catch the couple at 7 P.M. on Friday, August 2nd before Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and on Saturday, August 3rd at 3:30 P.M. before the cult horror classic The Legacy.

This year the Plaza Classic Film Festival also will honor Katharine Ross with its Plaza Classic Award for lifetime achievement. Last year, Elliott received the Plaza Classic Award and was recently nominated for an Oscar for his role in A Star is Born. Elliott's parents are from El Paso and he was a big hit last year at the Film Fest for his premiere of The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot.

I can't wait for this year's Plaza Classic Film Fest as it was previously announced that there will be a screening of The Wizard of Oz, the Plaza Classic debut of My Fair Lady, a new 4K restoration of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the 1939 version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. More titles will be announced soon. The Plaza Classic Film Fest shows more than 90 movies each year. Tickets go on sale in early July but you can get festival passes now. Can't wait to see what other films they'll be showing in that beautiful theater!
